Pedro,

On the occasion of a tenth anniversary, first congratulations. But also thanks!

For Zone Zero, in it's unique way, has enabled many of us throughout the world, to share in your profound journey of discovery and teaching in this extraordinary medium of imaging, both analogue and digital.

Within just a decade of digital, we are almost back to looking at content at its rightful level, with ever less preoccupation on the technology itself - already the technology is almost taken as a given. The marvelous digital tools now available enable our 'seeing eye' to roam more freely, and to share its results with a broader audience than one could ever have conceived just 15 years ago.

Pedro, I for one, am deeply indepted for the sharing and teaching in which your site has enabled us to immerse ourselves. Long may Zone Zero continue and may the world continue to be enriched as you encourage so many other fellow journey-makers to also share their work and their perspectives in such an exciting process of discovery and growth. By crossing so many geographic borders Zone Zero in its own way calms the waters of international disquiet and failed understanding.

Sincerely,
John Swainston,
Australia

I have seen so many moving images on this site, that it seems evident to me that as long as each one of us ,as photographers, remains honest and truly intends to speak from the heart, it will not matter what tools we use. I love the classical appraoch for it's honesty and simplicity, and tend also to use a minimum of manipulation, but I also use and value the benefits of the digital world as long as it can heighten expression. Ultimately I feel art as such, is the one place we may actually be free, and though there are limits in photography, concerning what is and what is not ethical, we can use this visual media to cross bonderies of culture and language which would be otherwise difficult to cross. Being a professional musician, I intend to incorporate music into my photographic projects, and feel that these different art forms can harmonize well together and intensify the total work. It is an exciting time for all of us, and I am truly thankful to be apart of it all, and honored to be on the zone zero site.

I stumbled upon ZoneZero and was astonished. This is by far the best Photographic spot on the Internet.

I made the move from film to digital about two years ago and, to my surprise, found that the anti-digital propaganda was just that - propaganda. One can make the same subtle photographs digitally that one can make with film.

I love your site.

Hello Pedro:
I have not logged onto your site for sometime as I have given up photography and have gone back to my original profession of 40 years. Although I still do maintain a low grade site on AOL, I have not picked up a camera since January.

I just happened to be thinking of you and decided to log on. There I saw your 10th Anniversary Editorial. I just wanted to say congratulations on your fine work.

Although we have had many heated debates and discussions in the past about digital photography I still find your site to be one of the best around and wish you many more wonderful years.

The very best to you,

It has been an interesting time, this point of departure from an all film world to digital. I completely agree with Pedro, digital media is only but a tool - not a style. Each tool has it's own particular qualities, oil painting vs. watercolor, and therefore some digital work would "look digital" (I love it for that). But, as with many things, in the end, it's the shot, the idea, the concept, the moment or the passion and creativity that really makes the image. It's the head and heart of the person behind the tool.
Happy Tenth to all at Zone Zero!
