My father Mordo Avrahmov has begun his photographic career
in 1945 while serving as a volunteer in the British Army. Later
in Israel, he worked for many years as photojournalist, focusing
on the various social strata of a developing country. He
has been documenting his place, Kibbutz Yakkum without a break
since it was established in 1947. Today at almost 84, he continues
to photograph his favorite subjects, still hand developing and
printing his BW films and prints. I realized recently, that
for him, photography is a way to confirm what he sees around him.
The photographs in this portfolio represent the full span of his
career, from a self-portrait in British Army uniforms in Belgium
to very recent photographs of blossoms and flowers.

Mi padre Mordo Avrahmov comenzó ssu carrera fotográfica
en 1945 como voluntario del ejército británico.
Después en Israel trabajó por muchos años
como fotorreportero enfocándose en los distintos estratos
sociales de el nuevo país. Ha documentado su lugar, el
Kibbutz Yakkum sin interrupción desde su fundación
en 1947. Actualmente a sus 84 años continúa fotografiando
sus temas favoritos, revelando e imprimiendo él mismo.
Me percaté recientemente que para el la fotografía
es una manera de confirmar lo que vé a su alrededor.
Las fotos en este portafolio representan toda su carrera desde
un autorretrato con el uniforme británico en Bélgica
hasta sus más recientes fotos de flores y capullos.
