This work began almost by chance and had neither the view nor the intention that it would later become a body of work. It all began with a visit which had been put off time and again to Moises Ville, my mother’s native town and the place where the Fridman and Werbin families (my maternal grandparents) and many other families lived before the end of the XIX century.

There I took photos of historic places, buildings, cemeteries… I didn’t stop clicking. The feeling of this place was… strange. I was struck by the presence of ghosts, the way in which the uninhabited buildings were filled with them; absences, solitude, abandonment, everything was there and nothing was predictable. On my return to Buenos Aires and when scanning my photos, simply to make an appropriate cutting, a create a better contrast… I found that I looked at them and I did not see in them what I had experienced in the place. Using the means that digital photographic programs (Photoshop 5.5, Corel 9, Photoimpact) give us, I found myself searching for a way so that those who should see my photos would not see them as being just documentary, but I could convey to them what I had experienced. In this way cut outs of windows, doors, almost transparent buildings began appearing, ghosts: I believe that this disappearance has to do with my later reasoning, with those empty spaces that we have as individuals and as a society, those things or histories that some are allowed to remember and others that even today are slow to become visible.
