Who is Obama?

When we reflect about the Obama phenomenon (a candidate much younger than his republican opponent), it is interesting to ask ourselves if the people are really familiar or feel identified with the next president of the future "less powerful nation of the world". In spite of the media hype, a great deal of the global population, (especially the youth) does not have a lot of concrete information about this man.

My interest with this photographic piece, is to reflect, in an ironic way- the stereotypes that have been taken again by the mass culture and its position in regards to them. This is new chapter in the political and social history of the western culture with issues of racism, tolerance, and citizen participation in the political events, among others.

¿Quién es Obama?

Haciendo una reflexión sobre el fenómeno Obama (siendo un candidato más joven que su opositor republicano), es interesante cuestionar quienes están familiarizados o identificados con el próximo presidente de la futura nación menos poderosa del mundo.A pesar del auge que se dio a través de los medios masivos (prensa, radio, TV e Internet) , gran parte de la población global mediática,(en especial la juvenil) no tiene mucha información concreta acerca de este personaje.
Con esta pieza fotográfica me interesa reflejar de modo irónico los estereotipos retomados por la cultura de masas y su postura ante ellos, a partir de éste nuevo capitulo en la historia política-social del la cultura occidental: racismo, tolerancia, y participación ciudadana en los acontecimientos políticos entre otros.
