ARTIST STATEMENT:

The relationships I have with the men in my family, while close, are also incomplete. My desire to fill in these gaps led me on a photographic investigation of the performance of masculinity. As a female, and a bystander in their world I observed parallels of loneliness and mannerisms between them. Though the images have an awkward tension, it is important to realize this is fiction. The uncomfortable and self-conscious characteristics portrayed are my projections of their relationships.
