Here is an example of what I meant.  I think that one must think of photographs as raw material, and then work on them until they fully convey, the story or feeling that one intended to communicate. 

I played a bit with the levels of your image to make the colors denser, and the foggy atmosphere to pop, darkened the corners, and burned the white van in the back.

Is just a sketch, but you might get the idea.
